Facebook feature Safety Check, which helps users to inform their friends and family members that they are well during times of distress like bombings or natural disasters that happen where they are, has been used in many countries during this past year since its release and it was of great benefit notifying people of the well being of their loved ones in over 1000 countries all over the world more that 3 billion times.
Even though the feature that Facebook considered it its part in helping people during crisis has been put to test for over a year did very well, its scope was still limited to the main Facebook app for mobile phones. This is why Facebook decided to expand the scope of the feature by adding it to Facebook Lite application.
Facebook Lite app is a lighter version of the main Facebook app because it works on phones with 2G internet connections and uses up less of the smartphone space which makes it more suitable for users who own budget Android smart phones especially in countries like Brazil and India that are developing.
The addition of Safety Check feature to Facebook “Lite” app will make the feature available for those users with low-end phones which will add more users to the base of those who can assure their loved ones about their well being during a crisis through their timeline.
Just as the giant social; media app released a lighter version of its main app, the company has also released a “Lite” app for its messenger, Facebook Messenger Lite app, which is a lightened version of the bloated traditional Facebook Messenger. Both of the lite versions of the apps came just in time for the expected line of Android GO devices which will be budget-oriented.
The lightened Facebook Messenger Lite takes a surprisingly small space on the users’ smart phones, about 10 MB which is almost 10 times less than what the original Facebook Messenger uses. The lightened version also has much less unnecessary features which makes the app uses far less data off of your mobile data. On Facebook Messenger Lite you will still be able to chat with your friends, make calls when your smartphone is connected to a Wi-Fi, and you will still be able to give thumbs up, all directly and without feeling lost in the mess of features and buttons that overloads Facebook Messenger.
